Washing Machines
Washing machines and dryers can be installed by the company that delivers them to your home. But recently, we have found that delivery people don’t want to be responsible for installing some of the new washing machines with advanced features. When that happens, people are calling Atlanta Plumbing Plus at 770-447-0374. We have experience in connecting, repairing, and replacing water and drain lines to all types of laundry room appliances; and, we do not use the polybutelyne supply lines that most installers use. We only connect your washing machine to your washer box with braided stainless steel “no-burst” supply lines.
If your washing machine is already installed you can do routine safety checks on it yourself. Just make sure that:

- The supply lines (hoses) don’t have any swelling or cracks and there is no sign of rust on either end of the hoses.
- The washer box valves (faucets) are not leaking and they turn on and off easily.
- The washing machine discharge hose is in good condition and is securely placed in the discharge hole (drain barrell) and secured well so it will not come out when the machine discharges water in to the drain.
- The drain the drain is not clogged so that it does not back up and dump water on to your floor when the washing machine pumps out water.
- The machine sits in a drain pan and the drain pan is connected to a drain line that runs out of the home, if your washing machine is in an upstairs laundry room, otherwise the machine could overflow and ruin the ceilings of the room below.
If you find any problems with washing machine supply lines or the washing machine drain lines or the washer box during your safety inspection, you should call Atlanta Plumbing Plus at 770-447-0374. We don’t just fix leaks. We can take care of most of your other problems quickly too:
- If your washing machine hoses are rubber or polybutelyne, we can help you to avoid future leaks by changing them out for braided stainless steel supply lines.
- If the drain is backing up, we can run a sewer machine or drain snake down the line to clear it.
- If your upstairs washing machine does not have a pan and drain line, we can install them.
But, if you find any problems with the washing machine itself – for example if the timer on the machine stops working – you should call an appliance technician to repair it.
Finally, turn off the connections to your washing machine supply lines if you are going to be away from the home for more than a day or two. You would be surprised how often we are called to a home where the polybutelyne supply line on a washing machine have burst while the homeowners were out of town. You would be even more surprised at how much water damage occurred when this happened.
